Ashley Kosharek launched AMK Cleaning Services as a way to make money as a single parent. What started as a means of making extra cash soon blossomed into a successful enterprise. AMK Cleaning now offers a variety of services for residential, office, commercial and construction spaces. The company also specializes in green, eco-friendly cleaning techniques.
In just four years, Kosharek has built up her staff from one employee to 45. AMK Cleaning Services now serves about 400 clients annually (including 150-200 regular clients). The company has earned numerous accolades, including being named New Business of the Year by the Western Dairyland Women’s Business Center.
Kosharek was connected with her SCORE mentor, John Hepfler, after learning about SCORE at a Women’s Business Conference in Eau Claire, Wis. “I’ve gotten a lot of key advice from John in business and also personal life advice,” says Kosharek.
When asked what advice she would give to entrepreneurs, Kosharek says, “To be a sponge and be open to advice from those who have gone through the path of running their own businesses.” She also compares starting a company to raising a child. “Just like a toddler you crawl, fall, pick yourself up, walk, fall, pick yourself up, then run,” she says.
